NHS England have published a description of the Model Emergency Department, which lays out the key elements of an ED and how it should be delivered. The Children’s Hospital Alliance were invited to work with NHS England to help to draft the paediatric element of this, which describes the specific challenges for a paediatric ED and the key issues which need to be addressed to ensure that an ED can meet the needs of children and young people.
